Typically, Christians have argued deductively from premises drawn from scripture. Jordon looks at cultures and the individuals that compose them and infers that behaviors of individuals from Christian cultures produce better cultures and more emotionally mature moral individuals. Where did we come from? Where do we go when we die? How do we get purpose and meaning? How should we live morally if there is indeed some objective moral code as opposed to just cultural preferences or a Darwinian survival of the fittest animal drive? The atheists I’ve dealt with since the 1970s have not struggled as Jordan suggest. They appear to have done no investigation of the questions above. Rather than giving cogent, well-researched responses to the questions above they: Make snob and mob appeals lol Iike, “Anyone with half a brain knows it’s ridiculous ro believe in God.” appeals to mockery, “Do you also believe in the tooth fairy?” Ad hominem attacks, Jordan’s attack on fundamentalist Sweeping generalizations like Jordan’s comments again on fundamentalist as if they are the best representation of biblical Christians. So the atheists I’ve talk to are largely unfamiliar with the various arguments for God’s existence e.g. Dawkins,Dennett, Harris, and Hitchens who dodge arguments and evidence and replace those with table pounding, appeals to incredulity and other rhetorical fallacies and hand-waving😮 It is a subject that deserve great consideration and examinations of the best arguments and evidence from both sides. However, Jordon has but to type in “Debates about theism,” to any search engine to see the abysmal state of atheism as atheist philosophy professors one after another spit out rhetorical tricks that they have taught for decades are informal fallacies that are not possibly true to thousands of students and yet these fallacious appeals are the center-piece of there defense of atheism😮 Get serious Jordon. I'm on welfare & i'm trying to get out of it honestly. I suffered from a stroke awhile back and I lost all sensation on the right-side of my body. Then, I had to re-learn my speech, walking, driving, and a lot of other essential things. I went on welfare as a way to keep myself financially afloat & i'm currently trying to find a job that can suit my needs currently. Finding that is the hardest part. I do think there's a place for welfare for the disabled, elderly, & those who will need the help - i'm in no way against the idea - but I also recognize the problems with it. Trump's right though. People with jobs shouldn't be making less than those on welfare & i don't really know how that problem can be fixed without expanding our goverment's control.
